Building Up To Your Full Potential

We all have dreams and goals in our life. But how do we reach up to our full potential?

We build up to our full potential step by step....

Just like how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly and becomes what it is meant to be, you start out small and then continue to grow into something beautiful. We all have to start out in small steps in life and we have to keep pressing on and and taking

One. Step. At. A. Time.

Even though I have 22q Deletion Syndrome and Executive function issues, it doesn't mean that I can't do things. It just means that it will take me a little longer to do some things than most people. I feel like even with my disability I can do a lot more than I can right now. I just need some help along the way. Some goals you might consider, if you want to...

1. Live in your own apartment someday

2. Be able to drive

3.Be able to keep a job

4.Learn more independent skills

etc....

1.Asking for help

One of the important ways to reach up to your full potential is to realize that asking someone to help you with someone is okay. I always felt like I should be able to do things and I didn't want to ask someone for help because that made me feel a little insecure. But nothing is wrong with asking someone for help with some things that you might struggle with.

Also you can pray to God about the struggles you are facing and can ask him to help you.

2. Awareness

When you are aware of some of the things that you struggle with and what you want to get better at that is another one of the important skills to acquire in reaching to your full potential. One of the first steps to reaching to your full potential I have learned is becoming aware.

3. Realize there are people who believe in you

Your closest friends and family members who know you best believe in you. They can see your struggles and though it may feel like you are all alone in building up to your full potential but there are people all around you who are struggling too and you may not even know it. And... God believes in you and is cheering you on in heaven and knows just the right thing to do and how to help you.

4. Finding coping methods

When we have struggles or anxiety it is good when you eventually learn to know more about how you are and what helps you along the way. Maybe you have a hard time organizing and you get really frustrated. Take some time to think about what could help you to organize? Like while you are organizing you could listen to some of your favorite music to keep you motivated. You could pray until you are done cleaning. You could award yourself after you are done with a particular chore.

5.Write down goals

Having a journal and writing out what you want to get better at or what you one day want to reach up to can help you keep track of it. I find it very helpful to write down everything on your mind then if you forget a goal you can look back and write down how you might reach that goal or dream.

6. Your disability or struggles DON'T have to hold you back

Some people may think that disabilities is a weakness. Or that we can't do that much. But... remember this verse "But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."

7.Don't let doubt or fear creep into your mind and take over

Fear is our enemy. Fear tells us we can't do something that we desire to do. Fear holds us back and makes us shrink. But we have a God who is STRONGER than our fears. When fear or doubt creep into your mind about not being able to reach up to your full potential say... "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" phillipians 4:13

Believe in yourself and NEVER give up!
