Have you ever battled with the wanting to please men or to please God? Have you ever wrestled with the thought of wishing you had more Facebook friends or wishing you had more Instagram followers or YouTube followers? Have you ever did an Instagram post out of self glory instead of glorifying God? I'm guilty to say I've dealt more then countless of times with these things that it seems like everyone is aiming for nowadays.
"For am I now seeking the approval of man or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man would I would not be a servant of Christ" Galations 1:10
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God" Romans 12:2
In our century people are more determined to want to please man rather then please God. Because they want people to like them or to get a chance to see them for who they really are, or because they seek glory and fame for themselves. The most common American dream is to have it all... Fame, fortune, good looks, best life, popularity, and to fit in. But for those of us who have a relationship with God and our aim is to be like Christ. Because we belong to God shouldn't we not have this temptation to want to be like the world? I think we tend to think these thoughts because we are all around people that we want to please, or celebrities, social media is high and growing, kids and teenagers wanting to be part of the "popular group" at school. It's hard to not get pulled into the worlds ways. There's a saying that we are just pilgrims passing through this world and our real destination is Heaven not this world. So why do we still to please others and try to be like them? Well I believe it's because we are human and because we fall short of the glory of God and we don't really deserve God's love and mercy but He loves each one of us so it's hard for Him to pass us by.
I deal with the thought of "Why can't I have more suscribers or likes on Youtube? Or... "Why don't I have more followers on Instagram or Facebook?" "Do people not like my content? or do they think I'm weird"... so these our thoughts I think when the devil is going to try and start tempting us and putting the pressure on us to want to be like the world and not think or act like Christ. When we think these thoughts too often it's easy for us to start looking down on ourselves and doubting who we are or our potential in life. But we have to remember that our aim in life as followers of Christ is to not aim to please men and to work on how many subscribers or followers on Instagram that we have but our aim in life is to be like Christ. To imitate Christ and to think Jesus and to do what we think that Jesus would do.We need to remember that we were created in the image of God and in His likeness and were created for a special purpose and that we are loved and seen as strong in God's eyes. It shouldn't matter what people think or how many followers we have. Because
1.We were created for so much more and for a higher purpose in life.
2. We are kings and princesses of God's kingdom.
3.We were each given unique talents from God.
4.We have a place in Heaven.
5.We are unconditionally loved by God
How much more could we need?
